Heritage Closing for Summer 2007

May 11, 2007 -- Heritage just recently announced they would be closing from June 18th to about the end of August to redo their greens. They will be changing from their current Bermuda grass greens to Ultra-dwarf Champions Bermuda grass. This change will allow the course to cut their greens lower and will produce faster greens with higher stimpmeter readings. While the course is working on their greens, they will also be leveling their tee boxes and replacing the sand in their bunkers as well improving their drainage.

To compensate for the faster greens, Heritage is looking at changing some of the severe undulations in their greens. Although nothing has been planned about the undulations yet, the course is looking into the matter.

Heritage is not the first course in Myrtle Beach to make this change. Courses like Caledonia, Longbay, and Brunswick Plantation have made the change to Ultra-dwarf Champions and the results have been tremendous. If you are planning on coming out in the fall to Myrtle Beach, Open Golf Tee Times is currently booking tee times for Heritage and other courses.
